We bet you didn’t know there is a stunning and active theater in Cripple Creek, did you? Just down Bennett Avenue and above the Cripple Creek Fire Station, you’ll see the Butte Theater sign bring a brilliant white-gold glow to the sides of historic buildings. Finding the office box is an easy task, buying your ticket, even easier, and watching a live show…

After collecting your glossy blue paper token of the sheer enjoyment you’re about to have, you’ll ascend a staircase to the second floor, where you’ll find a classic and intimate theater with a delightful stage fit for the perfect theater group. Grab a cocktail from the bar conveniently placed in the back of the theater so you can wet your whistle. Delicate chandeliers hang from the roof, and everything about this venue is classical.

This year at the Butte Theater presents a variety of wondrous live shows produced by the Mountain Repertory Theater. The Mountain Rep Theater is a theatrical production known for crafting incredible stage sets and recruiting some of the most unbelievable cast members for their productions. This year, they have a line up of memorable melodramas you just can’t miss.

Two cast members play all roles in this melodrama bringing to life a vampire, Egyptian princess who is awakened from her tomb, and a friendly werewolf. The play is interactive, hilarious, capturing, and one you simply cannot miss.

Celebrating the heritage of Cripple Creek, Colorado, this live melodrama takes you back in time to 1896 when mischief, madams, and miners roamed the 9494. We promise you’ll find the riches while booing the villain and cheering the heroine. This show is fun for the whole family so bring the kiddos! We’ll be giving them time to shine at intermission. This show is so hot, it’s on fire!

Forever Plaid

This show is nothing by barbers and mayhem. If you’re into barbershop quartets, this is the show for you. When four singers die in a car crash, they take the stage one last time to give you the musical journey of a lifetime. Bop along to the pitch-perfect melodies of the fabulous four and experience a charming and hilarious theatrical performance. Make sure you wear a bowtie for the occasion.

You won’t want to miss this crowd favorite. Join us for a celebration of big hair and big sound as we travel back to Springfield High School prom in 1958 to hang out with sparkling personalities, Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, and Suzy. Join us for classic ‘50’s hits including “Lollipop”, “Dream Lover”, “Stupid Cupid”, and “Lipstick on Your Collar.” This is a four-part harmony show you won’t want to miss.

Always Patsy Cline

An Instant Classic! Join Patsy Cline as she creates a genuine bond of friendship with biggest fan-turned confidant, Louise Segar. What began as a simple coffee date turned into a friendship that lasted through to Cline’s death in 1963. The show is performed and told through touching letters exchanged between Segar to make for an incredible story of humor, heartbreak, and celebration. Featuring 27 unforgettable hits, including “Crazy”, “Walkin’ After Midnight”, “I Fall to Pieces”, and “Sweet Dreams”, this is a musical memory book tribute to the glorious Patsy Cline.
