Gold Belt Scenic and Historic Byway
Cripple Creek is located on a national scenic and historic byway. The Gold Belt Byway follows historic railroad and stagecoach routes and features hundreds of historic gold mines and a wealth of dinosaur and fossil discoveries, some of the most important finds in North America.
Wildlife is abundant in the region, so watch for elk, mule deer, bighorn sheep, and an occasional black bear. The captivating scenery along the Gold Belt Byway and many other area roadways will provide a day of relaxing auto touring.
