DUE TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS, THE 2020 DONKEY DERBY DAYS WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL SEPT. 5TH-7TH (tentatively). Now in its 89th year, Donkey Derby Days tops the list of favorite Cripple Creek events. People from all over the world descend on downtown to be inspired by the town’s resident donkey herd, believed to be distant relatives of the original donkeys from the town’s Gold Rush days. The event will be downsized this year to avoid large gatherings, so the races and parade will likely be postponed until the 90th anniversary in 2021.
