Cripple Creek Ice Festival – Theme “Carver’s Choice”

The Cripple Creek Ice Festival is a spectacular event. Come watch ice sculptors carve ice into beautiful works of art that will amaze you. 2020 marks the 13th year for this premiere event.. Past themes have included a Mythological Wonderland, Story Time, Under the Sea, a Military Salute Carved in Ice, a Rocky Mountain Wonderland, the Old West and a Safari theme.

This year’s theme is going to be “Carver’s Choice”!

The Cripple Creek Ice Festival features numerous fun events to enjoy throughout the two event weekends. Interactive sculptures are available for event attendees to climb on for a selfie or group photo. And don’t forget the ice slide for kids! Street vendors have just the perfect thing to bring home as a memento of your visit here, and you can enjoy refreshing  beverages in our heated beer tent.

Also – Don’t miss the Ice & Art Fest at the Heritage Center from 9:00 am till 4:00 pm daily throughout Ice Fest. Meet the Artists Saturday, February 9th from 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm. Hors-d’oeuvres and wine will be served.  Transit service to the event from the Heritage Center is FREE for 60 and over and only $1.00 per person under 60.  To request a shuttle, please call 719-689-7711.

ICE SCULPTURE SCHEDULE:

The ice carvers will slowly carve their designs in ice between February 8th and February 16th.  This year carvers will be competing for a “People’s Choice” cash prize.  Each weekend, visitors will be able to vote for the carving that they think is the best.  On Feb. 16th the winner will be announced.  A significant ice sculpture will be completed by Saturday, Feb. 8th, by each carver.  They will add to the carving and/or complete another significant piece by Feb. 15th.

All ice carvings will be completed by February 16th. Sculptures will remain up on Bennett Ave until February 28 if the weather is cool.

People are welcome to view the carvings the week of February 10 – 14th the but vendors will only be present during the weekend.

The sculptures will be lit up at night for those who would like to visit in the evening.
