Sometimes we don’t go back far. The Cruise Above the Clouds Car Show, for instance, goes back to the mid-20th century for its dazzling display of vintage vehicles. Others, such as Mt. Pisgah Speaks Cemetery Tour, will go back over a century so you can meet the characters who played significant parts in the history of Cripple Creek. Cripple Creek’s premier summer event, Donkey Derby Days, has become a piece of history in and of itself as it enters its 85th year. Here’s the lowdown on all the historic events in Cripple Creek:
Gold Camp Christmas
Escape from the modern distractions, and celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas in Cripple Creek and Victor.
Holiday activities will kick off with the nightly Gold Camp Christmas Holiday Headframe Lighting throughout Cripple Creek and Victor and a Winter Wonderland every weekend at the Cripple Creek District Museum. Experience the lights in the Gold Camp by taking a drive (with your favorite Christmas tunes playing) on a self-guided tour through our area as our mine headframes are decorated with large Christmas light displays. Would you prefer a guided tour? Then be sure to check out the detailed schedule of events for the time and date for the guided tour over the main event weekend.
26th Annual Salute to American Veterans Rally & 31st Annual POW/MIA Recognition Ride
The City of Cripple Creek welcomes the Salute to American Veterans Rally August 18 – 20, 2017 for a show-stopping, patriotic display that recognizes our nation’s finest. Join us on Saturday for an impressive parade and the 30th Annual POW/MIA Recognition Ride – Colorado’s largest procession of motorcycles.
